MAST Seminar

A national seminar on the market aligned skills program, was organized by the livelihoods team of American India Foundation, on the 3rd of August, 2011 in India Habitat Centre New Delhi. The focus basically was on skilling the unskilled in India. The key note speaker was Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, who really enlightened the audience with his erudition, which was reflected in his speech. There were a host of other speakers which included the CEO of Team Lease and HR head of Cafe Coffee Day, who made the sessions enjoyable with their wit, humor and knowledge. The most enjoyable and motivating of the sessions happened to be an interaction with selected mast alumni, who are pursuing successful careers after having overcome many odds in life.

Review-cum-Refresher for Teacher Trainees - RNIASE and PMIASE

Review cum Refresher workshop for selected teacher trainees of Cuttack, Kendrapada, Sambalpur and Bargarh district were held on 27th and 28th June, 2011 at RNIASE Cuttack and PMIASE, Sambalpur respectively. The workshop mainly focused designing lesson plan integrating EDUKIT. An overall discussion on the annual work plan prepared for monitoring the school teachers at the school level was made.


Workshop on Multiple Natures by Steven Rudolph


A two day workshop on Multiple Nature and Multiple Intelligence was held in Delhi. It was conducted by Steven Rudolph, Director Education, JIVA Institute. 5 members from the Orissa Team attended this workshop. There were a number of hands on activities conducted as part of this interesting workshop, aimed at discovering the predominant nature of the participant. A test on multiple nature was conducted for all the participants by Steven Rudolph as part of this two day workshop.


DSCM - Cuttack, Kendrapada, Ganjam and Gajapati

The first district steering committee meeting of Cuttack, Kendrapada, Ganjam and Gajapti districts were held on the 16th, 30th and 29th of July respectively. All the headmasters of the respective DE schools attended the meeting. The meetings will be held on a bi-monthly basis and the forum will provide an opportunity for the district level education authorities to evaluate the impact of the DE program, take feed back from the HMs and the DE team members and take steps to implement mid-point corrections as necessitated by the feedback. Apart from this the forum also provides an opportunity to the HMs to share their experiences with each other, which thereby leads to a cross fertilization of ideas. The meetings ended in a list of actionable points for each of the DE schools in the respective districts, which will be reviewed again in the month of September 2011.

Sambalpur and Bargarh DSCM


The first district level steering committee meeting for Sambalpur and Bargarh were held on the 16th and the 23rd of July respectively. The meeting was chaired by the Inspector of School, Sambalpur and Bargarh and a review of the DE Program at the school level was carried out. All the headmasters of the respective DE schools of both the districts attended the meeting.
